Privacy policy

Collecting less is the only privacy measure that cannot fail, so this site collects very little. Here is exactly what, and exactly why.

Last updated

What is collected

This site is deliberately light on data collection, because collecting less is the only privacy measure that cannot fail.

  • Analytics: aggregate page views, referrer, approximate country, device type and engagement time. IP addresses are anonymised before storage and are never used to identify an individual.
  • Newsletter: your email address, the date you confirmed your subscription, and which emails you opened or clicked. Nothing else.
  • Email you send: whatever is in the message you write to one of the published addresses.
  • Server logs: standard request logs retained by the hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.

What is not collected

No advertising identifiers, no cross-site tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no session recording, and no third-party advertising network. There is no comment system, so no user-generated content is stored.

This site does not sell, rent or share personal data with commercial partners. An advertiser receives aggregate performance reporting — clicks, conversions, traffic-source splits — and never a list of people.

Cookies and local storage

One item of local storage is used, to remember whether you chose the light or dark theme. It contains the single word 'light' or 'dark', is set only when you use the toggle, and is never transmitted anywhere.

Affiliate links may set a cookie on the destination site once you click through. That happens on the advertiser's domain under their privacy policy, not this one — which is why every commercial link is marked before you click it.

Your rights

You can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe from any email in one click, and doing so deletes the address rather than suppressing it.

Requests go to compliance@verdictdesk.com and are actioned within 30 days, usually far sooner.

Who processes data on my behalf

Hosting and edge delivery, web analytics, and the email service provider. Each is a named processor under a data-processing agreement, and the current list is provided on request. No processor is authorised to use the data for its own purposes.

Children

This site covers financial and commercial products and is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has subscribed to the newsletter, tell me and the record will be deleted immediately.

Data questions and access requests: compliance@verdictdesk.com. This policy is a template reflecting standard practice for a small publisher; have it reviewed against your jurisdiction before relying on it.
